BII Recovery; Balancing Support and Compression
Recovery; Balancing Support and Compression
After my initial recovery from the explant surgery, I figured I should probably share my findings of two items that suited my healing needs. Following the implant removal, it was recommended to wear a tight-fitting sports bra. Since my implants were removed through my armpits, I understood that the healing process would involve the entire area from sternum to armpit. I was concerned that simply using compression might cause everything to be squeezed within the boundaries of the sports bra's elastic, potentially leading to an outward pointing appearance.
To ensure successful chest compression without the risk of an outward shape, I found a great combination that worked for me. Using a Chest Compression Band along with a Chest Shapewear Bra on top of any of my already snug sports bras (as I hadn't gone to a large breast size) provided the perfect balance of support and compression, allowing for proper healing and comfort (all things considering) during recovery.
Chest Shapewear Support Bra
The Chest Shapewear Support Bra aided my recovery process in maintaining the desired direction and shape of my breasts while they've been healing. The front closure makes it easy to put on and take off, sparing me from unnecessary stretching or pulling, even during the initial days of post-surgery discomfort. A snug and supportive fit offered the right amount of compression without feeling overly tight or restrictive while avoiding any potential misshaping during the recovery period.
Chest Compression Band
The Chest Compression Band provides customizable compression to suit my needs on any given day. Adjustable, allowing me to choose how much or little compression I wanted to apply as there were times when I simply needed a break from constant pressure, allowing me to ease off without sacrificing compression entirely. Sizing was of little concern as it can wrap around me one and a half times, and the Velcro meant I could secure it anywhere I placed it. This versatility ensured a perfect fit every time, regardless of any fluctuations in my body during the recovery process.
Regardless due to Breast Implant Illness (BII) or any number of other reason(s), I hope that this offers some help to those going through their own explant recovery, those considering explant surgery, or simply to shed light for curious minds. Both items I found on and off Amazon.com and I am not sponsored nor receive any compensation for either.
