Amas Veritas

I desire to evade the clutches of love anew,

To cease being someone's universe,

Witnessing pure joy cascade from their gaze.

For it is ephemeral, the thrill confined to the initial fervor of commencement.

Some are ensnared by substances — drugs, alcohol, or the allure of physical intimacy.

I've traversed these realms, finding no enduring desire within.

Yet love, after enduring cycles of anguish, proves my relentless fixation.

Love, an addiction I cannot sever.

It's a sublime existence, bathed in sweetness.

However, when it's wrenched away,

Akin to an addict grappling with withdrawal,

I am compelled to endure the wreckage.

Yearning not to embrace that bliss again.

Rather than mere fortifications,

Let the fortress crumble, along with all that resides within.

Eradicate the barriers, and there shall remain emptiness.

— just me

“That's the point. The guy I dreamed of doesn't exist.

And if he doesn't exist I'll never die of a broken heart.”
